WHAT TO EXPECT
Before any treatment, we carry out a comprehensive assessment of your oral health to make sure you are suitable.
We use 3D guided technology like 3D x-rays and 3D models of your teeth to help us to plan your treatment and achieve the most optimal outcome.
Every patient is different, and each treatment is carefully planned to meet your individual needs. We will help you to understand each aspect of your care and offer free telephone or video consultations and treatment plan discussions as part of your treatment.
Implants should provide you with a long-lasting fixed solution if they are well maintained as, like natural teeth, they need to be looked after. They need good oral hygiene and regular professional check-ups and hygiene visits are essential to prevent peri-implant diseases.
As a specialist periodontal practice, we are passionate about prevention and planning treatment designed to last and helping you look after your dental implants.

Pre-operative assessment: Before implants can be placed, we will need to firstly assess your suitability by ensuring that you are first dentally fit. It is important that your gum health is stable. In addition, x-rays and impressions or digital scans of your mouth will be needed to create models of your teeth, simulate the replacement tooth position before taking a 3D x-ray (CBCT) if required. These allow us to plan the best way to treat you. We use digital technology to simulate and plan your treatment and can use these tools to help explain your options for treatment.
RESERVE YOUR SPOT NOWStage one treatment: The next stage of your treatment is to insert the implants. This is normally done under local anaesthetic. Your periodontist will inform you if minor grafting is required at the same time. The gum is gently lifted away from the underlying bone, before the site is prepared for the implant to be placed. The implant is inserted into the bone very slowly, and the gum is replaced.
The implants will usually be left for at least three months before they are used to support replacement teeth. The surgical aspect of your treatment will be carried out by a Periodontist who is a specialist in managing gum health and implants.

LIAM O'SHEA
Very happy with the grove practice. I've undergone multiple treatments across different members of staff. In all cases the standard of work has been really high with great attention to detail. The hygenist (Sophia) is excellent, she is very good at explaining everything as she goes. She is also gentle whilst still getting the job done. My dental surgeon Viren was also excellent. I'm impressed with how well they have monitored my teeth over time - they noted an area that might need filling two years ago and filled it last week just as it needed it. The reception team are organised and efficient. Like all private dentists it is not cheap, but the service is infinitely better than I've had at my previous NHS dentists.
PAUL GANNON
Well as a bit of a coward from a bad experience nearly 40 years ago I was too afraid to visit a dentist again but due to my neglect and fear a wisdom tooth became loose. The staff here and the very considerate well explained ,manner in which they work is to be commended. The tooth was removed pain free with no issues there was no looking for extra problems just good honest advice. Well I am definitely going back and would highly recommend them

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY
Treatment is normally divided into two or three stages, each of which may involve several visits.

The failure of an old, existing bridge in late 2021 resulted in the need for a complicated overhaul. Following examination, x-rays and scans Dr. Vithlani explained my options, answered my questions and prepared three separately costed treatment plans.
The treatment I chose involved the fitting of four milled crowns and a removable, chrome framed denture. The work was undertaken over a period of nine months and within the estimated cost. It has been completely successful.
At every stage I was fully briefed and made to feel comfortable, safe and confident. I even found the whole process interesting. The Grove Practice Reception Team were courteous, friendly and efficient in making my multiple appointments.
I have no hesitation in recommending The Grove as an outstanding Practice.

My dentist is so supportive and reassuring it’s worth travel 45 minutes to see him
WHAT IS A
DENTAL IMPLANT?
Take the first step towards your new smile.
Dental implants are used to replace lost or missing teeth. They can be used to support crowns that replace a single missing tooth, bridges to replace several teeth or even dentures supported on implants. There is a wealth of evidence and studies that show that dental implants are safe and effective ways of replacing missing teeth. They may also be an option for teeth that cannot be saved and where alternative options like a bridge are not ideal. Remember, teeth first, titanium later! Specialist periodontists are in the best position to help determine if teeth can first be saved before considering dental implants.

About me
I am one of the principal dentists and directors of The Grove Practice alongside my twin brother, Upen. We have a great team at the practice already and the ability to work closely with other dentists with different areas of expertise means that we can provide excellent care to our patients. After spending many years travelling the country to learn from the best dentists, consultants and specialists across the world, I decided to come back to Warwickshire where I was born and bred! In 2016 I married my beautiful wife and we are now living happily in Rugby with our son. I enjoy many sports but particularly playing football (and watching Leicester City!). I also enjoy Padel, running, cycling, climbing and astronomy! I love photography and have even taken pictures at several family weddings and am for the British Society of Periodontology at conferences! My greatest satisfaction comes from spending time with my family and friend and charity work.

Stage two treatment: Implants buried under the gum will require a second small surgical procedure to expose them before they can be used. This is called ‘stage two treatment’.
Restorative treatment: In this phase, we to take digital scans or impressions, assess the shade (colour of your teeth) and send this information to a dental laboratory technician in order to make your new crown, bridge or denture to replace your missing teeth. It takes approximately 3 weeks from the scan / impression appointment for your new crown/bridge to be made. Occasionally, we may suggest for provisional restorations (temporary) to be made to help shape the gum or check the shapes of the teeth.
RESERVE YOUR SPOT NOWWhat are the benefits – why should I have dental implants?
Dental implants can be very useful where we would otherwise have to crown healthy teeth.
Implants are beneficial where a denture or bridge would be difficult or sometimes impossible because there are no suitable teeth for support.
They provide a fixed solution to replace a missing tooth or teeth.
Implants can also be used to support removable dentures more securely. It means that teeth on either side of the gap do not need further treatment.
Implants generally have high success rates of 95% in most people.
RESERVE YOUR SPOT NOWWhat are the risks?
All implants can have biological (related to the surgery or implant) or restorative problems (relating to the components or crown / bridge or denture). There is a small risk that the implants may not fuse or integrate properly with the bone in your mouth and so cannot be used. The risk is higher in certain individuals, particularly those who smoke, have poor oral hygiene, a history of gum disease, uncontrolled diabetes or conditions effecting bone. You will be advised if we think the risk of failure is higher than normal in your case. Implant placement involves surgery in your mouth and so will be followed by some common things after any surgical procedure - soreness, swelling, bleeding or bruising. Any discomfort is usually controlled with simple painkillers and should only last a few days to a week.
Some patients who require implants do not have sufficient bone. In these circumstances it may be necessary to carry out a bone graft. This involves more surgery and associated swelling, bruising and pain. Some patients (about 25%) may get gum disease around the implants and it is therefore essential that your gum health is stable before you have implants placed and equally important that you are able to clean around your teeth and implants well after treatment.
Are there any alternatives? The available treatment options will vary a lot from person to person, and so will be discussed with you on an individual basis. These may include no treatment, preparing adjacent teeth for bridges or a denture.
How can I prepare for a dental implant? Please make sure you have told us about any problems with your health and about any tablets or medicines you are taking. Some medical conditions change the advice and information we give you.
If you are a smoker, we strongly advise you to quit and remain a non-smoker in the long term. This will significantly reduce the risk of some implant complications. For help giving up smoking please speak to your
dentist, your doctor or pharmacist.

We want to involve you in decisions about your care and treatment and it is important to us that you understand everything before you have treatment. We take time to explain things to you in different ways, show you our digital planning and give you an opportunity to consider your options before you proceed with any treatment.
RESERVE YOUR SPOT NOWWill I feel any pain? You should not feel any discomfort during the procedure as the area will be made numb for 2-3 hours using a local anaesthetic. The level of discomfort after the procedure is variable and mostly requires simple painkillers, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen.
What should I do after the procedure? Most procedures are carried out using local anaesthetic and we would advise you to be careful of a few things after the surgery, such as avoiding hot food and drink whilst the area is still numb, keeping a soft diet and keeping the area clean with a salt water rinse or antibacterial mouthwash. You should avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours and ideally avoid smoking. We will provide personalised aftercare instructions for you so you know how to look after the area and the implants.
RESERVE YOUR SPOT NOWWill I have a follow-up appointment? Any dental restorations or dentures based on implants will need regular follow up and maintenance. We will need to see you about 2 weeks after the implants are first placed to review the healing and once you have your final crown, bridge or denture and we are happy with them, we will advise regular checks usually on a yearly basis. The most important thing will be to keep the implants clean and have regular visits with a hygienist every 3-6 months to make sure they are well maintained.
RESERVE YOUR SPOT NOWWho is treating me? Dr. Viren Vithlani has completed his specialist training in Periodontology at Guy’s Hospital in London.
